OUR MISSION Parental involvement is critical to the success of the Saint Luke School mission--to provide a superior Catholic education to its students. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is the formal vehicle for this involvement. The PTO serves as an advisory board to the pastor, coordinates the volunteer program, and runs several school fund-raisers throughout the year. Perhaps most importantly, Saint. Luke's PTO encourages and enhances communication between parents and school administration. PARENT PARTICIPATION POLICY
Saint Luke School’s Parent Participation Policy can be found in the handbook. The Policy requires each Saint Luke family to contribute a minimum of 24 hours of service to the school community during the school year with at least 12 of these hours spent on school-wide activities and the remainder spent on either school-wide activities or classroom specific activities. Single parent families are required to contribute 12 hours of service with half of the hours devoted to school-wide activities. Families are also encouraged to devote some of their volunteer hours to fundraising activities. Any shortfall in required volunteer hours will be billed to the family at $50.00 per volunteer hour. Parents are responsible for finding replacements should they have to cancel. No-shows or failure to find a replacement may result in an additional assessment of $25.00 dollars. A January report will go out to parents so they know mid-year what obligations remain and what opportunities for volunteer service are available during the second half of the year. In May, any outstanding volunteer hours will be included in the final school bill for the school year. Report cards will not be released until the bill is paid in full. The book for logging your volunteer hours is located on the counter in the school’s front office right next to the school’s sign-in/out book. All volunteers who have substantial contact with students in the Diocese of Arlington are required to attend the Diocesan Prevention of Sexual Misconduct and/or Child Abuse Seminar. Please contact the office staff for a list of times and dates of seminars; seminars are offered throughout the year. Registration forms are available in the office. Please register as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Parent Participation Coordinators on the PTO Board. MEETINGS Our PTO Board meetings are held the third Thursday each month in the school conference room. Check the calendar for planned meetings. Parents are welcome to attend any regular meeting as a guest. (Please first check with the President or Vice President). Attendance at any PTO meeting can be recorded for 1 hour credit towards your Parent Participation hours.
